Infiniti Q30 concept

Infiniti has new way to name their cars. Q or QX.

For example, G sedan or coupe will become Q50.

Recently, Infiniti releases first image of Q30 concept, which might replace current EX model.

This car will be in coming Frankfurt Motor Show in September.

Hope Infiniti will reveal its engine soon.

Scion FR-S 2014 comes with new features

Scion FR-S (or toyota 86 in other countries) will have new features in 2014 model!

1. standard 6.1 inch touch screen display.
2. new knee cushions located on the door panels and the sides of the center console.

Another option is premium audio system with "navigation".

However, the MSRP for MT is increasing to $25,455 USD.
(This is very interesting, since Japanese yen is depreciation and Scion uses Pure Price, which means discount is impossible. So I assume this model is too popular that automaker can get extra profit.)

Another news suggests the FR-S will get upgraded engine for model year of 2015.
I am sure a lot of people will look forward to it.

Zoids RZ-001 "Gojulas"

Zoids.
A classic animation.
A lot of cool designs of dinosaurs.

RZ-001 is one of famous dinosaurs in the series.
 "Gojulas"  

Tomy Takara released this toy long time ago.
It can be operated by battery for light and motion. (walking, waving arms)

Kotobukiya HHM series will release a new design of Gojulas 1/72 scale model with many upgrades.

Lego Back to the Future - Delorean. Update

This lego set seems to be very popular.

Sold out everywhere.

Fortunately, you still can order one at Lego store.

But waiting time is about 1 month :P

Toyota Blade (Japanese version of Toyota Matrix)

You might know Toyota Matrix. (This car was designed based on Corolla)

In Japan, this car has totally different design.
It was called Blade.

The model car was a gift from a Japanese friend.
If you buy a car in Japanese Toyota dealer,
the dealer will give you a model car which is exactly the same as your car. Is it cool?
So this model car is usually not for sale.


Do you notice one thing?
The logo on the front grille is different than traditional logo.

Lego "Back to the future"

Lego is going to officially release Back To The Future series.
The first product is "DeLorean" time machine.

I am sure a lot of people watched this movie before.
This car appeared in all three movies with different versions.
This Lego set will allow you to make all three versions.

When is the release date?
It will be released on Aug. 1st 2013.
That's right the day after tomorrow!

Red Bull X2010 in Grand Turismo Video Game

If you enjoy car racing game, you must hear GRAND TURISMO. (or called GT).
Grand Turismo 6 will be released later this year, but it already attract a lot of attention.

I am going to introduce a car appeared in Grand Turismo 5-Red Bull X2010.

The designated driver is Sebastian Vettel.
He is the youngest Formula One (F1) world champion now.

This car is also known as a FAN car.
What does it mean?
It means this car uses a fan technology which help the car stick to the ground.
Thus, when the car turn into a corner, the car still remains at high speed!

The X2010 is not the first FAN car. Actually, Fan cars appeared twice in formula one racing.
But they were banned immediately.
The reason is TOO FAST??
I personally think this technique can be applied to modern cars.
For example, when driving a car in mountain with many turns,
this technique might be a very good safety equipment. 

Ok, here are examples about how fast X2010 it is.
Just check the Nurburgring (ring time),  current records show:
No.1 Radical SR8 LM:    6min 48sec.
No. 5 Lexus LFA Nurburgring package: 7min 14sec.
No. 11 Porsche 911 GT2 RS: 7min 24 sec.

Vettel used X2010 simulator and made a Nurburgring GP course record at 1min 4sec.
Super FAST..!

Lamborghini Concept car Egoista Does it look like Mach 6?

Recently Lambo revealed a new concept car "Egoista"
This car is a one-man car. Only one seat for driver. Just like F-1 car.

When I saw this car at first glance, I think Mach 6 from Speed Racer's movie.

HAPPY 4TH OF JULY!!

Jordan XI low White/Black-True Red

It was pretty lucky to find this pair of shoes

Just released in June 8^th 2013.

Someone said this is the "Reverse" version of "Concord" 

(which means white part is black; black part is white).

Jordan XI (11) is one of the most popular Air Jordan shoes.

Different colors of Jordan shoes are usually released during Christmas time.

AJ 11 must be so popular

that Nike decides to release different AJ 11 low version during summer time.

As you can see, the AJ 11low version just looks like the same as AJ 11. Except:

3. Pattern of the bottom carbon fiber looks different.

NBA playoff makes me think "Air Jordan shoes".. Especially AJ XI

I am also a basketball fan.
Either Heat or Spurs will get the NBA title.

I am not going to talk the current games.
But if you are a basketball fan or even you are not a big fan,
you must know Michael Jordan, one of the greatest players in NBA history.

He played NBA for a while, then retired.
He started played baseball for a short period.
Then, Jordan announced "I'm back" in 1995.

What he wore is called AIR JORDAN.
People call "AJ".
AJI, AJII, to AJXX3, then AJ 2009 to 2012, then AJ XX8.

Although a lot of AJ series, my favorite is AJ XI.
The shoes Jordan wore in 1995-1996 season.
Jordan wore AJ XI "concord" during regular season, and "Bred" for playoff.
What it looks like? Here is the images of Bred.

I read a review that the bottom of AJ XI was made by carbon fiber.
I am curious why shoes needs a very strong but light material.

Lexus LFA 1:!8 autoart

Lexus LF-A

The most expensive Lexus car so far.
LF-A is also the first super car produced by Lexus. Limited for 500.
Although MT magazine said this car was under development, many people still like this car.
Lexus also noticed this issue. Later on, Lexus develop the Nurburging version for this car. And of course, this package costs extra $$.

This is not a car review, so let's check this model car 1:18 from Autoart.

Lexus claimed the exterior design of the LF-A is totally different than other super cars.
What do you think?

Front

The engine of the super car always generate a lot of heat, therefore, the cooling system is very important to the car. The LF-A also has its own cooling system. The cooling ducts are surrounded by the car from front pumper, side to the rear. As you can see, there are mesh structures under the tail light. That's right. It is for cooling purpose.

The other cool designs of the LF-A are rear spoiler and exhaust. The spoiler will be raised when reaching certain speed.

The triangle-like exhaust is also very impressive!

The Autoart is a high-end model car company. They really do a good job on interior as well. If you are a model-car collector, you will notice that most of model cars does not have door windows. But this one has it.
The steering wheel also has two colors just like real car. Even the pedals were painted with aluminum alloy color.

 I also want to emphasize one part of this model car.

Engine Hood

The engine hood. The model car maker even pays attention to the hood vents as well as the hood stand.

Last thing, I would like to thank a lady who sold this LF-A model car to me on ebay. She is the best ebay seller I know so far. She provided me the best customer service to me ever! Long story short, after I bought this car, I put it in a case and didn't notice this model has a defect on wheel alignment. Therefore, I contacted her after "almost 6 months" and asked her if she could replace one for me. I didn't expect anything from her. But "Yes", she replaced for me even sold to me after 6 months. So I would like to thank her again in my blogger.

Nissan GT-R 1:18

OK! I am going to introduce "GT-R".
One of most amazing sport cars. 
Yes, it is a Japanese car, but it is faster than several well-known Italian super cars.
For sure, it is much cheaper than those super cars.

GT-R was actually from Nissan Skyline GT-R.
But Nissan wants GT-R to have its own model.

GTR R35

If you saw the movie 2 Fast 2 Furious, there was a racing game at beginning:
Nissan Skyline GT-R (R34)
Honda 2000

Mazda RX-7
Toyota Supra
The GT-R in the movie is R34.
I am going to introduce R35. 1:18 scale model car.

One of the GTR's icon is its taillight. Four red circles.
Usually I don't like rear truck spoiler, but this one looks great to me.

Engine

The engine size is 3.8 Liter with twin turbo, but it can reach 545 hp (north american), and 550 hp (Europe).
It only takes less than 3 sec. from 0-60 MPH.
If you check Ring Time (List of Nurburgring lap time), GT-R is top 15.
It is also the second fast Japanese sport car. (behind LFA Nurburgring version)

This model car also did a good job in interior.

I like its sport pedals!

I heard a news about the R35. I am not sure if it is true or not.
Nissan voids the warranty on transmission if you quote "race".

BMW Vision Efficient Dynamics

BMW is working on their electrical car.
They call "i" series. There will be two new models coming out. i3 and i8.

The "i" series will not only use electrical motor,
but also their frame will be built be carbon fiber to make "i" series lighter.

(I am not doing car review here!)

Here I am going to show a 1:64 concept car, "BMW Vision Efficient Dynamics",
which is an ancestor of i8.   
The look of BMW Vision is really attractive.
The company mentioned that the design of this concept car was inspired by a bird's beak,
because the shape of the beak has near perfect aerodynamic design!

 Here is another side view.

I like its large side window and door.
However, it is kind of interesting if other people can see your legs while driving from the windows.

You might notice this car appeared in Tom Cruise's Mission Impossible.
But again, the car in the movie is not BMW Vision. It is BMW "i8 concept".
The car looks slightly different.
Since this is a 1:64 model car, so it doesn't have side mirrors.
But the position of the mirrors of real car is same high as a driver's head (usually right next a steering wheel).


Ok, one more thing, "the rear tail lights".

They look amazing! Therefore, when I found this 1:64 model car on a website, I bought it immediately.

But.. the real production version of i8 looks much more conservative!
(Feel free to google it)

Hope BMW can give the same design from Vision.
But this will be "MISSION IMPOSSIBLE"! 

Japanese Yen weakens..Time to buy Japanese toys..

10,000 Japanese bill

  
Yen weakens past 100 per dollar.
This is a very good news if you want to buy cheap Japanese goods.

If you go to a Japanese website and willing to ship internationally, you save a lot of money.
Below is some calculation, but it totally explains why..

For examples,
(case 1) MSRP: 10,000 JPY  now is about 100 USD., but was 128.2 USD (100,000/78=128.2).
             you save 28 dollars !

(case 2) MSRP: 2,480,000 JPY, now is about 24,800 USD, but was 31795 USD (2.480,000/78)
              you save near 7000 dollars !!

Case 1 is for some high-quality toys or collectibles.

Case 2 is Toyota 86 "G" version's MSRP.

Since Japanese car distributors in U.S. can get better deals, they should give customers good deals too. Nissan gave some discount on certain models. Hope Scion too, especially FR-S.

Anyway, back to my point, if you want to save some money for Japanese toys, check Japanese website and make sure their MSRP is using "Yen".

Optimus Prime from Revoltech

Since Transformer 4 will be released next year, I am writing something about it.

Most people I knew like Bubble bee more than Optimus Prime.

But I don't know, I just like Optimus Prime and collected different version of Optimus Prime.

Here is Optimus Prime from Kaiyodo's Revoltech.

The metallic painting is very impressive, although it is totally made by PVC.

The detail of Optimus Prime is amazing too.

For examples, head, feet, and its body parts.

I am not sure if you pay attention to Optimus Prime in all three movies. 

Optimus Prime is slightly different in these movies. 

For example, I think the most obvious part is its SIX pack Abs shown in Dark of the Moon (2011). 

(Did Optimus Prime go to gym?)

This model is fantastic, but it can't transform @_@ 

One more thing,

The joint parts of Kaiyodo's Revoltech. are amazing. 

Even you can buy it individually.

This allows your figure to show different poses!

Volkswagen Van "Samba"

I read a news "10 classic car worth reviving" from CNN.
One of these cars is Volkswagen Microbus or "Samba"
This car was produced in 1951.
Although this car is old, it still catches a lot of people's attention!

I bought this model car in a supermarket. The model is manufacture from Maisto.
I like its painting, just like original one.

You can see the driver seat, steering wheel, and radio control in detail!
P.S. The position of the steering wheel is just like a regular bus (horizontal!).

Toyota 86 GT “limited” from Kyosho

I explained why I chose my domain name “FRS 86” previously.

Here is my collection of 86!

Kyosho (Japanese name is”京商”) is a well-known manufacture to make scale models cars. AutoArt, Masito, Jada, Matchbox, Hotwheels ...etc are also other companies to make model cars.

Thank my colleague to buy this 86 (1:43 scale) from Japan :P  (Thank you Taku!)

86 GT in Japan has LED lights and fog lights, while FRS in U.S. does not have.

 The width of spoiler is larger than trunk lid.

I like Kyosho, because it pays attention to small detail.

For example, 86 GT limited version has dual interior color: black and red.

Kyosho will make the gear knob is red instead of black only.

If you also collect model cars, you will notice the interior is often single color in most of small scale model cars (like 1:24, 1:43).

One more thing!

  Dissembled tail light 

I dissembled the tail light cover and was surprised that this tail light was assembled from four individual components: red brake light, yellow direction light, light frame and light cover. I’m very impressed by all the detail.

If you ask me where to buy (except in Japan), sometimes I found ebay has but a bit expensive.
